Materials

Selection of building materials is critical to the integrity of the project. Each project has its own differences and challenges, requiring custom material selections. We use only the best products because they produce the best final result. Many of these premium products also come with warranties of up to a lifetime. What’s under the hood matters a tremendous amount, even if no one will ever see it once it’s covered.

prep

This is the most important area of tile installation, yet it is all too often overlooked. The final product must be visualized before beginning. Walls must be shimmed or otherwise made plumb, flat, and square. Layout must be considered at this stage—no sliver cuts here. Floors must be made level and flat to TCNA standards of 1/8 inch variance in 10 feet. The integrity of the building and substrates must also be considered. At this time, showers are waterproofed using modern, water-in / water-out waterproofing systems. Shower systems must be completely waterproofed from drain to showerhead. Time well spent leads to efficient and precise tile installation in the next step. With perfect prep comes perfect work.

Installation

Attention to detail is critical. This is where craftsmanship and art come together. To the untrained eye, tile and stone products may appear perfectly sized and consistent. This is never the case. Installed correctly, that inconsistency and variability is what makes tile a beautiful, custom, and unique surface that will last a lifetime.
